The Art of Endurance: Managing Challenging Clinical Encounters

Explore the challenges of managing patient encounters in this year’s KAMMCO Loss Prevention Program education. Join KAMMCO Risk Management Advisors Yolanda Sims, JD, MHA, and Connie Christian, MBA, CPHRM, as they provide you with practical strategies for managing challenging patient behaviors. Learn how to respond effectively to unauthorized recordings during clinical visits and negative feedback on social media.

In addition, our experts will share techniques to foster a secure and supportive environment for both your staff and patients. They’ll also guide you through the nuanced process of when and how to professionally conclude a patient-provider relationship.

  1. Identify communication practices to improve the care of challenging patients in your work environment.
  2. Explain the importance of quality documentation when treating challenging patients to mitigate professional liability risks.
  3. Demonstrate effective techniques to de-escalate patients exhibiting threatening and disruptive behaviors.
  4. Outline steps for a comprehensive provider-patient relationship termination process.

This education is designed for the entire healthcare team. Prepare for a session filled with actionable insights that will empower you and your team to uphold a high standard of care and minimize the risk of claims.
