Program Description

Title

A Witness to Quality Care: Your Role in Deposition Testimony

Program Summary

Generally, providers who perform well during depositions do so because they set themselves up to do well long before a lawsuit is filed. Professional skills, including accurate and concise charting, effective patient-centered communication and follow-up, and proactive communication with their colleagues, all increase the odds of depositions going well for a provider. In this year’s KAMMCO Loss Prevention program, accomplished defense litigator, Don Gribble, JD, will discuss how the skills contributing to quality patient care mirror the core factors leading to a successful provider deposition.

Objectives

  1. Correlate crucial healthcare delivery elements with patient outcomes.
  2. Identify the key elements necessary for defensible care.
  3. Recognize when high-quality care is given, it is also defensible.
  4. Describe risk reduction approaches that promote high-quality patient care

Audience

This program is designed for the healthcare team, including physicians, clinic managers, hospital and facility administrators, risk managers, nurses, long-term care providers, and other healthcare professionals.
