Defending Your Documentation: The Electronic Health Record, Documentation, and Depositions

Recorded on March 25, 2020 for the KAMMCO 2020 Spring Education Series.

Presented by Connie Christian, MBA, CPHRM
KAMMCO, Facility Risk Management and Patient Safety Advisor

Ms. Christian will discuss the challenges associated with documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). She will highlight case studies that illustrate how missteps, omissions, and errors in documentation can pull a provider or a medical staff member into a deposition, and she will outline practical steps on how to improve daily documentation.

This webinar will appeal to clinic and facility administrators, physicians, risk managers, nursing staff, office and support staff, and other interested healthcare professionals. If you have an EHR, then this webinar is for you!

Ms. Christian assists KAMMCO members in clinical risk management, patient safety, facility safety, emergency preparedness, and peer review procedures. She received her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Colorado Technical University. Connie is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management, holds a Patient Safety Certificate both through the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and is certified in Emergency Management with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
