The Blame Game: The High Cost of Pointing Fingers in the Healthcare Setting

This webinar is presented by Donna Keil, BSN, RN, KAMMCO Medical Liability Analyst and Medical Records Manager.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: It’s easy to point fingers, but in the field of healthcare, it’s not a good idea. Blaming others for poor outcomes or medical mistakes is detrimental to patients and may also put a provider at higher risk for litigation. This webinar will present examples of medical malpractice lawsuits generated primarily as a result of finger-pointing amongst healthcare providers. Ms. Keil will also discuss tips for conversations with patients who experience poor outcomes or medical mistakes as well as strategies for appropriate documentation.

WEBINAR TARGET AUDIENCE: This webinar will appeal to clinic and facility administrators, physicians, risk managers, nursing staff, office and support staff, and other interested healthcare professionals.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Donna Keil is the manager of KAMMCO’s Medical Record Department and also works in the Claims Department as a Medical Liability Analyst. Her job duties include oversight of the medical record collection process and KAMMCO’s nurse reviewers as well as investigation and management of professional liability claims. Donna has a BSN in Nursing and over thirty years’ experience in medical-legal insurance defense.
